The Member representing Ogoja State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon Engr Thomas Aruku has officially flagged off his skill acquisition program aimed at empowering youths and create jobs in his constituency.
The program which is part of the Member’s efforts to tackle unemployment and promote sustainable economic growth, will provide training and mentorship in various skills such as Solar Installation and Maintenance, Computer repairs and maintenance, phone repairs, hairstyling, makeup, Soap Making, Web Design, Photography, Baking, Computer operation and office management etc.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, Hon Engr Thomas Aruku was represented by his Legislative Aide Mr Murphy Uko. He emphasized the importance of skills acquisition in today’s competitive job market. “As a representative of the good people of Ogoja, it is my responsibility to ensure that our youths are equipped with the necessary skills to succeed in life,” he said.
The program which is expected to benefit over 100 youths, will run for 12 weeks, with participants receiving hands-on-training and mentorship from experienced instructors. The participants are drawn across the 10 Wards of Ogoja for training which will commence at Idum – Mbube Center for participants around Mbube, Ishi-Aya Centre for participants around Nkum axis, Mbok – Ekajuk Centre for those around Ekajuk and Igoli Centre for participants around Ogoja Urban 1 & 2.
The flag-off ceremony was attended by the APC Chapter Chairman of Ogoja, Mr Paul Adinye, Chief Ale Ejim, Mr Frank Modey, the Ward Chairmen of Ogoja Urban 1 & 2, Mr Paul Agboje, Ms Theresa Nteke, the Programme Coordinators, Engr. Eyeh Peter Eyeh and Mr Igbaji Modey, and notable resource persons Mr Godwin Odey, CEO G-Win Studio, Ms Ogri Christiana Obla, CEO of Vailers Global Ventures, community leaders, and beneficiaries of the program, who praised Hon. Aruku’s empowerment initiative and commitment to youth development.
